West Chester Rolls Past Lincoln, 82-37, At WCU Alumni Classic

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Catherine Andrews scored 15 points and dished out six assists as West Chester easily stolled past visiting Lincoln, 82-37, in the first game of the 22nd annual WCU Alumni Classic in memory of Carol Eckman in Hollinger Field House Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Rams (6-1) put four players in double figures with Janelle Garber and Dana Weems chipping in 12 points each. Megan Stewart posted 11 points and five assists off the bench, finishing 4-for-4 from the field, including a 3-for-3 effort from behind the 3-point arc.

Lincoln (0-6) was led by Sharell McMillan with 13 points. However, the Lions were plagued by 22 percent shooting from the floor, making just one of 26 3-point attempts, and 30 turnovers.

West Chester held Lincoln scoreless over the final 3:26 of the first half, going on a 10-0 run to close out the opening frame and carve out a 44-23 advantage at the break. By that time, the Golden Rams’ bench had put up 22 points and West Chester had tallied 23 points off of Lincoln’s turnovers.

The Golden Rams shot 53.6 percent (30 of 56) from the field on the afternoon and 53.3 percent from 3-point range (8 of 15). West Chester’s 82 points marked the highest point total of the season for the Rams.

West Chester faces Columbia Union tomorrow at 4 p.m. in the final game of the 22nd annual WCU Alumni Classic in memory of Carol Eckman.
